About the position

We are seeking a highly motivated R&D S&E, Electrical Engineer to join our 7444 Power Source Production and Test Department. Our team is highly proficient and multidisciplinary with skills in computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering. On any given day, you may be called on to: Be responsible for design and support of our product acceptance testers, which are a mix of custom design and commercial equipment. This work includes working in a laboratory environment designing electronic systems, characterizing instrumentation setups, and creating automated data collection systems. Aid in the experimental laboratory research and testing of different kinds of power sources for NW purposes. Perform data analysis and post-test processing using MATLAB, or other available tools. Deliver results and report findings to team members and project partners. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Travel to various production sites across the country to perform tester certification or maintenance.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field with an independent research project.
  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS security clearance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a diverse team.
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present clear briefings.
  • Experience with NNSA complex product acceptance tester qualification process.
  • At least three years of designing and building electronic testers experience.
  • Experience with custom-built test systems and COTS battery testers.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of analog electronic circuits (SPICE).
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as MATLAB or JMP.
  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Experience programming for NI hardware, i.e., Test-Stand or LabVIEW.
