About the position

The Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Network Hardware) at Northrop Grumman is responsible for integrating and testing software and hardware systems within complex IT environments. This role is crucial for the Avionics Integration Organization, focusing on developing engineering solutions and automated deployments for datacenter system configurations. The position requires a strong background in network hardware and software, with a commitment to working on-site in Rancho Bernardo, CA, and involves up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering and automated deployments for datacenter system configurations.
  • Collaborate with engineers to install, troubleshoot, and redline documented procedures.
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment.
  • Plan, coordinate, and document engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience deploying, configuring, hardening, and maintaining network routing and switching devices.
  • Experience with network information & event management systems (ISE, Solarwinds, LibreNMS).
  • Experience with software defined networking technologies (NSX).
  • Familiarity with network security devices (Firewalls, IDS, IPS).
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, etc.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience utilizing Linux command line and Linux-based tools.
  • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Kubernetes and Container networking.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology.
  • Familiarity with version control, GIT experience preferred.
  • Ability to author and maintain technical installation, configuration, and update documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
