About the position

The Senior Principal Engineer - Project Engineering Discipline Chief at Collins Aerospace is a pivotal role responsible for guiding and mentoring project engineering processes. This position focuses on technical program execution, integration, risk management, and product verification, ensuring that engineering best practices are implemented across various development programs. The role involves collaboration with multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholders to achieve optimal design solutions and maintain high standards in project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Project Engineering.
  • Develop and implement Project Engineering best practices, processes, and procedures within the Standard Work framework.
  • Implement and support Standard Work processes across all applicable development programs to deliver consistent results.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering disciplines, Programs, Operations, Quality, and Customers to achieve optimal design solutions.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of standard tools or templates for the discipline.
  • Share lessons learned across the discipline, programs, and products, transitioning them into applicable process improvements.
  • Conduct discipline health reviews.
  • Participate in the proposal process to develop and review cost estimates, schedules, and proposal packages where engineering resources are required.
  • Lead discipline-specific process and tools training activities.
  • Mentor Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and engineers within the discipline.
  • Provide technical consultation and guidance.
  • Serve as the organizational champion of the Community of Practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience, or 14 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.
