About the position

The Senior Principal Engineer Systems Architect at Northrop Grumman is responsible for designing and developing system architectures, defining key capabilities and performance requirements, and ensuring that customer specifications are met. This role involves technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and conducting analyses at all levels of the total system product. The position is integral to converting customer requirements into comprehensive system solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops system architectures and defines key capabilities and performance requirements
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Conducts analyses at all levels of total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal
  • Ensures logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions
  • Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications
  • Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces
  • Defines system implementation approach and operational concept.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience, or a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience, or a STEM Ph.D. and 4 years of related professional/military experience
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Systems Integration and Test
  • Experience in SysML
  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering with experience using Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Applied knowledge of aircraft design
  • Experience in the military aerospace development environment
  • Experience developing various DODAF view artifacts, especially Operational and functional viewpoints, using MBSE tools like CAMEO
