Senior/Principal Industrial Automation Engineer

About the position

Energy Vault® is seeking a Senior/Lead/Principal Industrial Automation Engineer to design and implement on-site control programs for various gravity energy storage system project requirements. This role involves working with PLCs, VFD motor drives, motion control, network communications, HMIs, data collection, metric generation, and evaluation. The position is based in Snyder, Texas, with potential for hybrid remote work after a few months. The ideal candidate will lead projects, innovate on energy storage systems design, and collaborate with a team of engineers and construction professionals.

Responsibilities

• Own, improve and innovate upon gravity energy storage systems design.
• Design, write, and commission automation code utilizing Beckhoff TWINCAT PLC Software.
• Implement and troubleshoot designs and code on site.
• Collaborate with other engineers (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Structural) and construction professionals.
• Mentor a midlevel engineer.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience with a Master's or Doctoral degree; or 7+ years with a Bachelor's degree; or 9+ years with an Associate's degree; or 11+ years with a high school diploma.
• Extensive experience as a Beckhoff automation programmer.
• Field experience on industrial construction sites or in manufacturing facilities.
• Motion control experience, preferably including VFD Control of heavy loads.
• Coding experience using a Proportional, Integral and Derivative (PID) Controller.
