About the position

The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS is dedicated to developing, manufacturing, and supporting advanced infrared and electro-optical solutions for military applications, including soldiers, ground vehicles, and airborne platforms. This position offers an exciting and challenging work environment, where employees are encouraged to apply advanced engineering principles to perform highly complex functions in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations. The role involves planning, conducting, and technically directing projects or major phases of projects, ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and results. In this position, you will analyze highly complex technical problems and recommend corrective actions, with responsibilities that are intricate in scope. The analysis of situations or data may involve intangibles, and your work may significantly impact the design and success of products and services. You will also be involved in the development of manufacturing process plans, test requirements, and manufacturing flow and capacity plans, while reviewing detailed designs for manufacturability and producibility. Supporting and reinforcing the mission, values, and culture of the organization is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced engineering principles to perform highly complex functions in the design, fabrication, modification and/or evaluation of manufacturing operations.
  • Plan, conduct, and/or technically direct projects or major phases of projects.
  • Review the project progress, evaluate, and communicate results to all stakeholders.
  • Analyze highly complex technical problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Involved in the development of manufacturing process plans, test requirements, and manufacturing flow, and capacity plans.
  • Review detail designs for manufacturability and producibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant disciplines with 10+ years progressively complex engineering experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD clearance as needed, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Experience in microelectronics fabrication, MEMS fabrication, microelectronics yield enhancement and failure analysis.
  • Infrared or imaging detectors experience desired.
  • Specialties may include production, industrial, welding, tooling, testing, processing, and robotics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree is desired.
  • Some microelectronics test experience a plus.
