About the position

The Senior/Principal Production Planning Control Specialist at Sandia National Laboratories will be responsible for developing and implementing material requirements planning (MRP) activities to support new product development and production schedules. This role involves ensuring the availability and flow of raw materials, monitoring orders, managing safety stock levels, and collaborating with various teams to mitigate risks and implement recovery plans as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute material requirements planning activities to support new product development builds and production schedules.
  • Utilize MRP tools and techniques to ensure the availability and flow of raw materials.
  • Evaluate planned/open orders and release planned orders to procurement.
  • Establish and manage safety stock levels and ensure accuracy of MRP planning parameters.
  • Forecast material demand and execute what-if analysis to manage budget.
  • Communicate and report to management on the status of raw materials and proactively identify potential issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area plus five years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus one year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Materials Resource Planning (MRP) systems and related business practices.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of industry standard MRP systems.
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts and experience applying them for continuous improvement.
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or project management skills.
  • Experience with DOD, DOE, or other highly regulated manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems like AS9100 or ISO9000.
  • Certified in APICS professional certification programs.
