About the position

The Electronic Warfare (EW) Division is a prominent research and development organization within the Leidos Innovations Center (LInC), comprising approximately 430 employees. This division is dedicated to the research, design, and development of advanced Electronic Warfare systems, directed energy systems, high-speed and hypersonic weapon systems, as well as communications and networking systems. The primary mission of the EW Division is to develop technologies that enable dominance over the electromagnetic spectrum while simultaneously denying adversaries access to it. The research initiatives focus on enhancing electronic attack capabilities, electronic protection measures, electronic support functions, command and control systems, and resource management strategies. The EW Division boasts a diverse team of professionals, including signal processing engineers, mathematicians, physicists, hardware and software engineers, aerospace engineers, system engineers, technicians, program managers, and business entrepreneurs. The division serves a variety of esteemed clients, including DARPA, IARPA, ONR, various Department of Defense services, and the Intelligence community. Currently, there is an opening for a Senior Principal RF Electrical Engineer who will collaborate with a talented, multi-disciplinary design team that includes electrical engineers, systems engineers, software and firmware engineers, and scientists. The Senior Principal RF Electrical Engineer will be responsible for directing the design and development of innovative RF hardware systems. Candidates must possess a robust background in RF hardware design, testing, and measurement, particularly in support of fast-paced programs. This role requires providing technical advice and input that significantly impacts strategic client outputs and the overall business results of Leidos. The engineer will also mentor and coach other technical staff, serve as the Principal Investigator on complex multi-disciplinary programs, and lead technical efforts on intricate proposals. The position involves solving diverse problems, determining methods and procedures for new assignments, and providing feedback and recommendations to other technical personnel. Interaction with external customers, suppliers, and functional peer groups is also a key aspect of this role, along with occasional travel and work at remote sites for limited periods. Status reports to project managers and/or division production managers will be required as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice/input that impacts strategic client outputs and Leidos business results.
  • Develop new solutions, processes, standards, or operational plans that position Leidos competitively in the marketplace.
  • Mentor and coach other technical staff.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator on complex multi-disciplinary programs, including field demonstrations of real-time hardware systems.
  • Act as Technical Lead on complex multi-disciplinary proposals.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope, determining methods and procedures for new assignments, and providing feedback and recommendations to other technical personnel.
  • Interact with outside customers, suppliers, and functional peer groups.
  • Provide status reports to project managers and/or division production manager as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Master's degree with 15+ years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate with 13+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to receive TS/SCI clearance.
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex multi-disciplinary technical teams and/or projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in Electronic Warfare applications and systems, SIGINT, and/or radar fields as a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated RF electronic warfare design experience and ability to apply theoretical knowledge to resolve real-world problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in idea creation and program capture (proposals, white papers, etc.).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced Research and Development (R&D) environment.
  • Active TS or TS/SCI clearance.
