Responsibilities

  • Explore and analyze patterns of performance and other reliability issues for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) products and services.
  • Engage with Development and Service partners to identify improvement opportunities for IaaS and propose solution approaches related to network, Windows enterprise services (AD/DNS), OLVM/OKVM, and migration of services to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Contribute to the definition of SLIs and SLOs focused on the IaaS product, stack, and service.
  • Telemetry data acquisition and ingestion.
  • Analyze metrics and SLO breaches.
  • Present data and analysis to various audiences including executives.
  • Be part of the SRE and architecture team, whose mission is the shared full stack reliability of a collection of services and technology areas, with our Development partners.
  • Engage with and present to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from individual contributors and teams to executive leadership.

Requirements

  • A Technical BS or MS, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or similar cloud environments.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Familiarity with systems thinking and large scale applications and deployments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Service Reliability Engineering.
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting complex problems.
  • Aptitude to be a good team player and willingness to learn and implement new Cloud technologies as needed.
  • Understanding of IaaS platforms, integration, deployment, and support.
  • Fluency in IaaS performance metrics and ability to understand reports.
  • General web application performance and reliability knowledge.
  • Experience with metric data acquisition tools and techniques.
  • Ability to define and document technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products.
  • Experience mentoring junior SREs and Infrastructure Architects across the organization.

  • Experience with cloud migration strategies.
  • Familiarity with performance metrics and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems architecture.
