At Oracle Health Applications & Infrastructure (OHAI), we are developing patient- and provider-centric solutions rapidly and securely, leveraging the power of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to serve our customers across various sectors including patient, provider, payor, public health, population health, and life sciences. Our team applies cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics to create people-centric healthcare experiences. In this role, you will explore and analyze performance patterns and reliability issues for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) products and services. You will engage with Development and Service partners to identify improvement opportunities for IaaS and propose solutions related to network services, Windows enterprise services, and the migration of services to OCI. You will contribute to defining Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) focused on the IaaS product stack and service, and analyze telemetry data to present findings to various audiences, including executives. As part of the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and architecture team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of our services and technology areas, collaborating with development partners to achieve shared goals. The SRE domain requires a unique blend of skills, combining system engineering and development engineering. You will need to understand and explain how product architecture decisions impact the ability to run distributed systems. Your professional curiosity and desire to develop a deep understanding of services and dependencies will be essential in this role. You will also engage with a wide variety of audiences, from individual contributors to executive leadership, and will need to empathize and interact with these personas effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Explore and analyze patterns of performance and reliability issues for IaaS products and services.
  • Engage with Development and Service partners to identify improvement opportunities for IaaS.
  • Propose solution approaches related to network, Windows enterprise services (AD/DNS), OLVM/OKVM, and migration of services to OCI.
  • Contribute to the definition of SLIs and SLOs focused on the IaaS product, stack, and service.
  • Analyze telemetry data acquisition and ingestion.
  • Analyze metrics and SLO breaches.
  • Present data and analysis to various audiences including executives.
  • Collaborate with the SRE and architecture team to ensure full stack reliability of services and technology areas.

Requirements

  • A Technical BS or MS, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or similar cloud environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Strong systems thinking skills.
  • Experience with large scale applications and deployments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in Service Reliability Engineering.
  • Methodical approach to troubleshooting complex problems.
  • Aptitude to be a good team player and willingness to learn and implement new Cloud technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of IaaS platforms, integration, deployment, and support.
  • Experience with IaaS performance metrics and fluency in understanding reports.
  • Familiarity with general web application performance and reliability.
  • Experience with metric data acquisition tools and techniques.
  • Ability to define and document technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products.
  • Experience mentoring junior SREs and Infrastructure Architects.
