About the position
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to develop advanced Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. This role involves backend development, API implementation, and working with containers and databases, contributing to innovative technology that supports warfighters across various missions. The position emphasizes a flexible work environment that promotes work-life balance while delivering critical solutions for national security.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement backend systems and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Participate in cross-discipline software architecture definition.
- Design and develop RESTful microservices.
- Engage with peers and technical leads to communicate technical approaches and decisions.
- Research and evaluate new technologies to stay abreast of industry trends.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer-related field.
- 10+ years of software and backend development experience.
- Strong software architecture, design, and development experience using Java and RESTful services.
- Ability to innovate and solve problems effectively.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Agile software development.
- Full stack development experience with UI frameworks like Angular, ReactJS, or VueJS.
- Familiarity with cloud-based concepts such as AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of the DevSecOps development process.
- Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis, Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.
