About the position

The Senior Principal Structural Engineer at Worley is responsible for providing structural engineering services, including technical support and supervision within the structural engineering team. This role involves delivering engineering services that meet regulatory specifications, managing project requirements, and ensuring quality and timely delivery of work. The position also includes mentoring junior personnel and maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structural engineering services that meet Worley, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget
  • Initiate, manage and supervise structural engineering project requirements
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures
  • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes
  • Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities
  • Design foundations and various reinforced concrete structures
  • Design steel structures, supports and racks
  • Review shop drawings prepared by fabricators, detailers and vendors
  • Prepare detailed design, specifications, calculations and reports
  • Act as the structural engineering Lead on specific projects if needed
  • Outline project requirements, assign tasks and supervise progress if responsible for a team
  • Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its customer's requirements
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in structural engineering
  • Assist and support junior personnel within the structural engineering team if required
  • Communicate effectively with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customers
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required

Requirements

  • Experience working in a leadership role such as lead engineer or department manager
  • Extensive years of relevant discipline experience
  • Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content
  • Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills
  • A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of structural engineering and other engineering fields
  • A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Competent use of structural engineering specific software
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite
  • Substantial technical and practical experience in structural engineering in the same or similar industry
