About the position

As a Senior Principal Structural Engineer at Worley, you will play a pivotal role in providing structural engineering services for large or mega projects. Your responsibilities will encompass technical support and supervision within the structural engineering team, ensuring that all engineering services meet the specifications of Worley and its customers, as well as applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. You will be tasked with managing project requirements, ensuring that all services are delivered on time and within budget, while also maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. In this role, you will manage various aspects of structural engineering services, including participating in relevant meetings, preparing progress reports, and adhering to required checking procedures. You will ensure that the project scope is clearly defined and that any changes comply with the project change management processes. Additionally, you will provide critical advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, overseeing requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase order preparations. As the structural engineering lead on specific projects, you will outline project requirements, promote workshare where appropriate, assign tasks, and supervise progress. If you are responsible for a team, you will ensure that the required services meet Worley’s standards and those of its customers, while also proactively resolving any discrepancies between requirements. Staying current with the latest developments and technical innovations in structural engineering will be essential, as will assisting and supporting junior personnel within the team. Effective communication with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders, including customers, will be a key aspect of your role. You will be expected to identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and seek assistance when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage structural engineering services that meet Worley and its customers' specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Manage structural engineering project requirements.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and comply with required checking procedures.
  • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
  • Provide advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, including overseeing requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase order preparation.
  • Act as the structural engineering Lead on specific projects.
  • Outline project requirements, promote workshare, assign tasks, and supervise progress if responsible for a team.
  • Ensure required services meet Worley, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
  • Proactively resolve discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in structural engineering.
  • Assist and support junior personnel within the structural engineering team if required.
  • Communicate effectively with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Experience in onshore engineering.
  • Experienced in analysis of all types of steel and concrete structures found in petrochemical facilities.
  • Must have a professional engineering license in at least one US state.
  • Ability to work in person at the Worley office full time and work independently.
