About the position

The Senior Principal Submarine Combat System Network Design Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for designing and planning network systems for submarine combat systems. This role involves providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, working within a cross-functional integration team to develop, support, and maintain these systems. The engineer will leverage advanced technologies to solve complex problems and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of network solutions to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan network systems for submarine combat systems.
• Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
• Develop, support, and maintain submarine combat system network architectures.
• Select hardware and software, and implement techniques and tools for efficient solutions.
• Act as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 8 years of job-related experience.
• Technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnection.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one discipline/field with knowledge in adjacent fields.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Bash, and Ansible.
• Background in security vulnerability studies and defense-in-depth strategy.
• Strong ability to develop solutions to complex problems.
