About the position

The Senior Principal Systems Engineer at Raytheon plays a critical role in the Systems Engineering Directorate, focusing on Mission Systems Integration activities. This position is responsible for defining customer needs, developing functional and product architecture, and ensuring system performance and security. The engineer will work on the SPY-6 and GhostEye radar systems, engaging in integration and analysis activities to identify issues, generate solutions, and verify implementations. Strong communication skills are essential for conveying results to teammates and leadership, and the role requires daily on-site support.

Responsibilities

  • Development of concepts of operations for radar systems
  • Radar processing algorithm development
  • Radar software requirements development
  • Statistical and numerical analysis of radar performance data
  • Analysis tool development in support of problem identification and resolution
  • Collaboration with Systems and Software Engineers to develop and implement solutions
  • Present findings and solutions to Leadership and/or Customers

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 7 years of prior relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
  • Experience with design, development, and analysis of radar system and software architectures
  • Experience with signal processing techniques in complex propagation environments
  • Design experience in radar system areas such as antenna, receiver/exciter, waveforms, digital beamforming, multi-sensor track management and data fusion
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Requirements development experience, including use of DOORS
  • Experience with MATLAB/Python/C++
  • Experience with technical writing and oral presentations
  • Systems Engineering experience on DoD systems

Nice-to-haves

  • An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance
  • Masters/PhD in a STEM field
