About the position

The Systems Engineer position at Raytheon focuses on Mission Systems Integration activities, particularly for the SPY-6 and GhostEye radar systems. The role involves defining customer needs, developing functional and product architecture, and ensuring system performance through integration and analysis activities. The engineer will work collaboratively with other engineers to identify issues, generate solutions, and verify implementations, requiring strong communication skills to present findings to leadership and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Development of concepts of operations for radar systems
  • Radar processing algorithm development
  • Radar software requirements development
  • Statistical and numerical analysis of radar performance data
  • Analysis tool development in support of problem identification and resolution
  • Collaboration with Systems and Software Engineers to develop and implement solutions
  • Present findings and solutions to Leadership and/or Customers
  • Focus on signal processing and waveform design, electronic protection methods, phased array and digital beamforming technology, radar search, track and discrimination design, target and threat modeling, integration and test of large radar systems, and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 7 years of prior relevant experience
  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance
  • Experience with design, development, and analysis of radar system and software architectures
  • Experience with signal processing techniques in complex propagation environments
  • Design experience in radar system areas such as antenna, receiver/exciter, waveforms, digital beamforming, multi-sensor track management and data fusion, adaptive signal processing, clutter mitigation techniques, electronic attack and electronic protect, sensor resource management and mission planning
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Requirements development experience, including use of DOORS
  • Experience with MATLAB/Python/C++
  • Experience with technical writing and oral presentations
  • Masters/PhD in a STEM field
  • Systems Engineering experience on DoD systems
