About the position

The Senior Principal Tableau Data Engineer at Northrop Grumman will lead the development of innovative data visualization solutions to support the Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) team. This role focuses on utilizing Tableau to enhance data analysis capabilities for a superconducting electronics wafer fabrication line, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with engineering teams to meet the dynamic needs of a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Tableau to build core capabilities for data visualization.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand data analysis needs and build custom solutions in Tableau.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to data fidelity, dashboards, or reports.
• Proactively determine and develop data visualization solutions in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, both in written and verbal formats.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a STEM Master's Degree with a minimum of 6 years experience, or a STEM PhD with a minimum of 3 years experience.
• Proficient in Tableau dashboard creation.
• Experience in modern programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.).
• Knowledge of database concepts and data structure.
• Experienced in data visualization best practices.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

• A bachelor's or master's degree or higher in data science, computer science, software engineering, or a related major.
• Highly skilled in modern programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.).
• Skilled in statistical data analysis and modeling.
• Experience in high volume automated manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs.
• Understanding of data representation differences between products, plans, recipes, and varying levels of manufacturing containers.
