About the position

As a Project Engineer in the Computing Products Department at Collins Aerospace, you will be at the forefront of developing revolutionary avionics processing solutions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful coordination of hardware, software, and firmware for avionics products, which are critical in both commercial and military applications. You will lead engineering projects from inception through to execution and sustainment, ensuring that all program commitments are met while adhering to Collins Aerospace's technical engineering processes. In this position, you will be responsible for providing project management and technical direction throughout all phases of the program. This includes the pursuit, bidding, planning, execution, and sustainment phases. You will maintain a keen awareness of key technologies and the competitive landscape, supporting the transition of products into manufacturing. Additionally, you will implement cost reduction strategies to maximize the impact of your projects on the company's bottom line. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering project leader for programs developing Avionics products.
  • Ensure coordination of hardware, software, and firmware to meet program commitments.
  • Provide project management and technical direction throughout all phases of the program, including pursuit, bidding, planning, execution, and sustainment.
  • Uphold consistency with Collins Aerospace's technical engineering processes and ensure compliance with program and product requirements.
  • Lead a diverse team of engineers in developing processing platforms and associated technologies.
  • Maintain awareness of key technologies and the company's competitive position.
  • Support the development and transition of products into a manufacturing environment.
  • Implement cost reduction strategies to maximize DTC+ impacts on products.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).
  • Proven leadership experience in developing ruggedized avionics products.
  • Experience managing technical projects including schedule and earned value management, risk management, customer interaction, and briefing executive leadership.
  • Experience with Avionics regulatory and certification requirements including TSO, MIL-STD, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297, APR4754A.
  • Proven record of meeting objectives and commitments.
  • Possess a collaborative way of working.
