About the position

The Senior Principal Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman will play a crucial role in the Advanced Technology Lab, focusing on the development and execution of test methodologies for Analog Silicon ASIC devices. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the quality and integrity of semiconductor products, contributing to both internal and commercial production, as well as emerging technology programs. The role requires a strong understanding of semiconductor technology and microelectronic manufacturing test methodologies, along with excellent communication skills to document test plans and develop software and hardware solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and execution of Analog Silicon ASIC device tests for various fab technologies.
  • Understand test requirements and document test plans.
  • Develop necessary software and hardware solutions for testing.
  • Manage daily and forward-looking test scheduling.
  • Ensure test data integrity and implement equipment/software improvements.
  • Support procurement of test equipment and ensure configuration control of test software and hardware.
  • Maintain test quality and documentation quality, including test equipment calibration and compliance with customer documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 9 years related experience, or a Master's Degree with 7 years' experience, or a PhD with 4 years of related experience.
  • Direct semiconductor test engineering experience.
  • Experience working with a team of test and product engineers.
  • Proficiency in a modern programming language such as C#, Python, C++, or Java.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience testing Analog & Mixed-Signal circuits (amplifiers, DACs, ADCs, PLLs) and Power Management circuits (regulators, drivers).
  • Experience with wafer or die ATE testing, preferably with NI Semiconductor Test System (STS).
  • Familiarity with NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand.
  • Experience with 150mm, 200mm, and 300mm prober operation and package part handling.
  • Hands-on experience building, debugging, and repairing test hardware.
  • Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, source-measure units, digital multimeters, function generators, spectrum analyzers) and GPIB communications.
  • Experience writing, debugging, and optimizing test programs.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control methodologies and software.
  • Leadership and teamwork capabilities, with strong interpersonal communication skills.
