About the position

The Senior Privacy Compliance Analyst at UCSF is responsible for overseeing daily privacy compliance activities, ensuring adherence to UCSF and UC system-wide policies, as well as applicable privacy laws and regulations. This role serves as a technical expert and advisor on privacy compliance matters, managing complex projects, conducting privacy risk assessments, and collaborating with various departments to enhance privacy compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor day-to-day privacy compliance activities to ensure adherence to UCSF and UC system-wide policies and applicable privacy laws.
  • Serve as a technical expert and advisor on privacy compliance matters, representing OHCP in committees and workgroups.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the framework of the Privacy Compliance Program, including assessing compliance risks.
  • Conduct timely reviews and revisions of UCSF enterprise-wide privacy policies and procedures.
  • Manage complex privacy/compliance HIPAA projects and participate in special projects for process improvements.
  • Support interdepartmental frameworks for research privacy compliance, including training and consultations.
  • Investigate privacy incidents under supervision, determining reportability and facilitating required reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years equivalent experience/training.
  • Three years of experience in a large healthcare organization, with significant experience in Privacy or regulatory compliance.
  • Up to date on current HIPAA regulations and other relevant federal and state privacy laws.
  • Skilled written and verbal communicator with discretion regarding sensitive issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in high-stress environments.
  • Proven project management and database management skills.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of privacy program database systems and experience applying regulations to fact patterns.

Nice-to-haves

  • One or more years of demonstrated project management experience.
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience as a privacy analyst in a healthcare setting or a Juris Doctor degree.
