About the position

The Senior Process and Applications Engineer at Sinto America is a pivotal role responsible for driving business development and new product introduction (NPI) efforts for Sinto Surface Technologies (SST) in North America. This full-cycle position encompasses customer-facing sales, job quoting, NPI, and the creation, training, and execution of processes at the plant level. The engineer will work closely with Plant Managers to analyze cost structures and strategically price SST programs. The role involves developing new customer relationships and enhancing existing sales, ensuring that all process aspects meet customer requirements and specifications. The engineer will also assist in developing training programs as part of the process design, ensuring that production requirements are met for on-time delivery and quality. In addition to sales and customer interaction, the Senior Process and Applications Engineer will participate in advertising and trade show activities to promote sales growth, maintain communication with customers, and report on performance and market activity. The engineer will work individually with each facility to identify new business opportunities and support NPI activities by developing surface enhancement solutions tailored to customer needs. Safety and quality are paramount, and the engineer will ensure that all process developments meet or exceed customer quality specifications. Maintaining professional relationships with both external and internal customers is essential, as is staying current on process technologies through industry participation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with a focus on process development and customer engagement. They will be expected to conduct business with integrity and ethics, supporting the company's safety and quality programs while ensuring compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations. This role is integral to the success of Sinto America, contributing to the company's reputation for excellence in the manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary activities to create new customers and increase existing customer sales.
  • Work with Plant Managers and QA Leaders for NPI and Business Development activity, including technical support and direct customer support.
  • Maintain a pricing strategy that maximizes gross margin contribution in collaboration with the Applications Engineering Manager and Plant Managers.
  • Operate within budgetary guidelines and travel as necessary to grow the surface technologies business.
  • Participate in advertising and trade show activities to promote sales growth.
  • Maintain records and produce necessary reports required to track performance and market activity.
  • Meet with plant managers to identify new growth opportunities and assist in Capex inputs.
  • Support NPI activity by developing surface enhancement solutions and project plans.
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained while working in the shop and that all process development meets customer quality specifications.
  • Maintain professional relationships with external and internal customers and develop networks to support NPI efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. /B.A.) or equivalent experience with ten (10) to fifteen (15) years related experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with NADCAP and AS-9000 quality standards preferred.
  • Experience with major Aerospace and/or Medical OEM quality and engineering systems highly desirable.
  • Experience in peening, metal finishing, and metal polishing processes preferred.
  • SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling experience required.
  • Hands-on experience or mechanical inclination is ideal; maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Electronics, Inc. Shot Peening training certification would be of great value.
