About the position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Process/Chemical Engineer to join our team remotely, based out of our Richland, WA office. As a Senior Process/Chemical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in performing a variety of engineering calculations to ensure compliance with project and code requirements. Your responsibilities will include generating Process Flow Diagrams, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Process Data Sheets, as well as assisting in the preparation and approval of design documents and plant modifications. You will provide technical expertise and guidance to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis and programs to identify and resolve equipment and system problems. In this role, you will work closely with multi-discipline teams on project-based work, ensuring the integration of design across various disciplines. You will be responsible for checking the accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies and client expectations, while also ensuring that safety is a fundamental element in equipment design and specification. Your leadership will be essential as you supervise and guide members of the design team, recommend new equipment and techniques to improve performance, and support the installation and testing of site systems and components. Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations to document compliance with project and code requirements, including mass and energy balances, pressure profiles, and equipment sizing.
  • Generate and be conversant with Process Flow Diagrams, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Process Data Sheets.
  • Assist in the preparation and approval of design documents and plant modifications, supervising designers in document development.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis and programs to resolve equipment and system problems.
  • Ensure relevant design criteria, specifications, practices, procedures, and codes are used in preparation of design media.
  • Interface with team members and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient work completion.
  • Work in multi-discipline teams on project-based work, ensuring design integration across disciplines.
  • Perform checking to ensure accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies and client expectations.
  • Work to assigned schedules, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work, and initiate corrective measures for delays.
  • Comply with environmental health and safety policies and procedures, attending required meetings.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to design team members, commensurate with seniority.
  • Recommend new equipment, concepts, and techniques to improve performance and comply with changes in client requirements or regulations.
  • Perform independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of plant changes and design modifications.
  • Support installation and testing of site systems and components.
  • Participate in the preparation of cost estimates for engineering services and coordinate work assignments to meet project schedules and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related technical degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the field.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Process Equipment design software and Microsoft Office.
  • Detailed knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry codes and regulations.
  • Professional Engineering License preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
