About the position

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated Sr Process Electrical Engineer for a full-time position. This role is pivotal in leading the process electrical design for multiple small to medium projects, as well as a few larger projects, from the proposal stage through to project closeout. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating comprehensive process electrical engineering designs at all levels of project definition, including concept, preliminary, detailed, and construction issue stages. Limited travel may be required for this position, allowing for flexibility in project management and client interaction. The responsibilities of the Sr Process Electrical Engineer include designing raceway and wiring for low-voltage motors and devices, as well as developing device-level network architecture and control panels for various applications. The engineer will also be tasked with developing project technical memorandums and reports, performing equipment specifications, and soliciting proposals. Utilizing computer-assisted engineering and design software, the engineer will prepare detailed engineering and design documents, create project specifications, and draft scope of work contract documents. Additionally, the role involves assisting in project construction cost estimating, creating project schedules, and conducting contracting bidding meetings. On-site construction verification and project system startup are also key components of this position, along with visiting project sites to monitor progress and fulfill other duties as outlined in the contract documents. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited four-year college or university, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering firm or equivalent. A valid driver’s license is required for this position. Strong communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team are essential attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Create process electrical engineering designs at all levels of project definition (concept, preliminary, detailed, construction issue)
  • Design raceway and wiring for low-voltage motors and devices
  • Design device level network architecture
  • Design control panels for various applications
  • Develop project technical memorandum and reports
  • Perform equipment specification and proposal solicitation
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Create project specification and scope of work contract documents
  • Assist in project construction cost estimating
  • Create project schedules
  • Carry out contracting bidding meetings, on-site construction verification, and project system start up
  • Visit project site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents
  • Assist in project proposal labor estimating
  • Instruct technicians to reduce drawings and markups to working drawings
  • Use CAD on an occasional basis for design and plan development
  • Attend client meetings, day or night
  • Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering firm experience (or equivalent)
  • Valid driver's license
