About the position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join their dynamic team in Woodland Hills, CA. This role involves managing individual tasks, mentoring less experienced engineers, and providing technical peer reviews of process engineering work. The position focuses on developing process engineering deliverables and supporting projects in various design phases, particularly in the fields of hydrogen, carbon capture, and clean energy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process engineering deliverables (design basis, heat and material balance, PFDs, and P&IDs) to support projects in various design phases from Pre-FEED through detailed design.
  • Perform hydraulic studies and calculations for line sizing.
  • Develop specifications for and size process equipment (separators, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors).
  • Participate in project hazard reviews.
  • Participate in process safety management activities.
  • Perform process simulations in support of optimization and other studies.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients and project team to define project objectives and coordinate design issues with other disciplines.
  • Assist project manager and teams in proposal development by defining process engineering scope of work and estimate effort.
  • Delegate work tasks as necessary to less experienced engineers.
  • Provide technical review of process engineering work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting multidisciplinary projects in a process design role.
  • Experience with hydrogen processes (e.g. electrolyzers, hydrogen units, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with natural gas processing preferred.
  • Experience with CO2 processes (e.g. carbon capture) and pipelines preferred.
  • Experience in oil refining/petrochemical preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel periodically.
