We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Engineer with industrial process, application, and operations experience to join our expanding Process & Industrial Water practice. This role will support project proposal and application processes across the US and Canada, with a focus on the US North Region. The Senior Process Engineer will engage with various markets, including Manufacturing, Energy, Power, Food and Beverage, Hi-Tech, Mining, and Pharma. The successful candidate will be responsible for networking with engineering, environmental, and water professionals to execute technical projects and drive business development initiatives. In this role, you will evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for projects, performing tasks such as calculations, design sketches, report preparation, and fieldwork. You will analyze proposed projects to ensure they meet safety, reliability, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness standards. Additionally, you will assist in developing detailed proposals for diverse project settings, ensuring that client needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships.
  • Participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals.
  • Act as the client-facing contact for business development, including meetings and presentations.
  • Prepare scope of work documents and estimates, and division of responsibility (DOR) matrices.
  • Collaborate with multiple business lines to develop opportunities and conduct quality reviews.
  • Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned water, power, and industrial process and wastewater-related projects.
  • Develop design basis documents, engineering calculations, engineering drawings, and engineering reports.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and present findings to clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Engage in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Assist project managers with developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Lead the development and coordination of project construction specifications.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical reviews.
  • Review contractor/vendor submittals for adherence to contract documents and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with regulatory reviews to seek final project approval.
  • Assist in the development and updates of project design standards and guidelines, and prepare abstracts and technical papers.
  • Manage a team of design professionals and technicians, mentoring and supervising staff to develop high-performing project teams.
  • Interact with clients and management regarding project status, scope, schedule, and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of total experience, with at least 2 years of operational experience being a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within twelve months.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform mass & energy balance and hydraulic calculations.
  • Detailed knowledge of developing piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Ability to drive the development of process control narratives for programming process control systems.
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production, client procurement procedures, and regulatory approval processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe; experience with software such as Fathom, Arrow, ASPEN.
