About the position

The Senior Opto-mechanical Process Engineer at Medtronic is responsible for developing and sustaining substrate finishing processes, including precision laser cutting, inspection, measurement, and testing. This role involves providing technical support in a manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and leading the innovation and optimization of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.
  • Recommend and implement equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies.
  • Integrate equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications.
  • Review product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
  • Interact with product design and development personnel to ensure compatibility of processes and designs.
  • Develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
  • Lead the innovation, development, and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes, and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
  • Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control and develop measurement techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures comply with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant engineering experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant engineering experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with laser cutting or wafer singulation/dicing processes and equipment
  • Experience or aptitude to program, run and troubleshoot automated equipment, machine vision, and automated metrology tools
  • Experience with CAD layout systems
  • Experience with Lean Sigma, or Green/Black Belt Lean Sigma certification
  • Knowledge of DOE, statistical analysis methods, and data analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, etc.)
  • Experience and understanding of SPC principles including process capability analysis and control charts
  • Experience sustaining in manufacturing production.
