The Senior Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who will utilize recognized methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints to enhance efficiency and quality within the company’s processes. The focus will be on understanding the voice of the customer and employing statistical analysis to eliminate waste and variation in processes, ultimately improving patient and customer experiences, increasing revenue, and reducing errors and expenses. The Senior Process Engineer will be an integral part of the Project Management Office team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements. This role demands a self-starter who can adapt strategies and solutions in response to changing business needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex, enterprise-scale process improvement initiatives, shepherding projects through discovery and governance processes, and pursuing automation opportunities as part of process re-engineering efforts. Effective communication with senior executives and stakeholders is crucial, as is the ability to lead multi-day rapid improvement sessions and develop comprehensive communication plans regarding enterprise engagements. This position is based on-site at the company’s headquarters in McLean, Virginia, and requires a proactive approach to identifying and executing process improvements that drive stabilization and standardization across the enterprise. The Senior Process Engineer will also lead cross-functional teams to explore, develop, optimize, and implement scalable solutions for sample processing workflows, ensuring that the organization continues to innovate and improve its services for patients and partners alike.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance objectives and metrics across the enterprise to proactively identify process improvement opportunities
  • Partner with operational leaders to execute implementation of process improvements driving stabilization and standardization across the enterprise
  • Directly manage and execute complex, enterprise-scale process improvement initiatives on behalf of executive stakeholders
  • Shepherd projects through the discovery, prioritization and governance process
  • Pursue process automation opportunities as part of process re-engineering and improvement
  • Effectively communicate operational or project progress against strategic goals to senior executives, sponsors, and stakeholders
  • Lead and plan complex, multi-day rapid improvement sessions for executives and key stakeholders (Kaizen Events)
  • Develop complex communication plans regarding enterprise engagements
  • Lead cross-functional teams working in a variety of projects to explore, develop, optimize, test, and implement scalable solutions for sample processing workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; advanced degree in engineering, business administration, or equivalent STEM field preferred
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • LSS Black Belt Certification required
  • Project Management Professional Certificate preferred
  • Proficient in data analytics tools such as SQL and Power BI
  • Experience with New Product introduction environment including phase-gate process experience
  • Experience streamlining workflows, developing processes from concept generation to process validation and implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to connect with diverse constituents and stakeholders across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated self-starter, strategic thinker, and ability to work collaboratively on complex projects
  • Proven ability to lead and manage competing tasks independently and efficiently
  • Excellent presentation skills sufficient to create and present on strategic and enterprise project engagements to senior leadership
  • Ability to manage and deliver projects with accelerated schedules.
