About the position

ABS Consulting is seeking high-caliber engineers to join a world-class team focused on process safety and risk management. The role involves managing process hazard analysis (PHA) and layer of protection analysis (LOPA) engagements, providing expertise to clients across various industries. Engineers will have access to a global network of experts and resources, enhancing their knowledge and supporting client projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage process hazard analysis (PHA) and layer of protection analysis (LOPA) engagements with clients.
• Lead and/or scribe PHAs and LOPAs for various clients across multiple industries.
• Prepare, facilitate, and write recommendations and reports for PHAs and LOPAs.
• Select appropriate PHA methodology based on process complexity and hazards.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of PHA scenarios, consequences, safeguards, and recommendations.
• Read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Drawings, Cause & Effect Charts, and Instrument Diagrams.
• Collaborate with clients on technical aspects of projects and communicate requirements clearly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably chemical or mechanical engineering.
• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• 3 to 6 years of process safety experience and knowledge of OSHA's PSM standard and/or EPA's risk management programs.
• Excellent technical, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficient with Microsoft Word and commercial PHA software programs (e.g., Leader, PHA-Pro).
• Ability to read and understand process drawings (e.g., PFD, and P&ID).
• Extensive experience participating on PHA teams as leader and scribe.
• Knowledge of safety systems (Fire & Gas, Deluge, ESD).
• Skills in facilitating group meetings and engaging teams.
