About the position
The Senior Process Safety Specialist at BASF is responsible for providing process safety expertise to identify and control hazards associated with materials, chemical processes, and physical equipment. This role involves participating in safety reviews, ensuring safe design and operation of facilities, and continuously improving process safety competencies. The specialist will also provide expert consultation on process safety issues and develop training content to enhance safety practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide process safety expertise to identify and control hazards.
- Participate in safety (PHA/MOC) and design reviews for new and existing processes.
- Ensure the safe design and ongoing operation of facilities to reduce accident risks.
- Continuously improve process safety technical competencies and influence team operations.
- Provide expert consultation on process safety issues and develop training content.
- Lead and participate in EHS work teams and initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Interface with regulatory agencies on compliance and enforcement issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Experience as an EHS safety professional or in a related manufacturing role.
- Certification as a Safety Professional or Industrial Hygienist is desirable.
