About the position

The Senior Procurement Project Manager is a pivotal role within Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, specifically designed to bridge the gap between technical engineering knowledge and procurement processes in the supply chain. This position is not a traditional purchasing role; instead, it emphasizes the importance of understanding how procurement functions within the production process. The Project Manager acts as an internal change board representative, advocating for the procurement team while ensuring that the production process aligns with procurement strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of technical aspects related to aircraft manufacturing and detail part fabrication, making it essential for the successful candidate to possess both procurement expertise and technical acumen. In this role, the Senior Procurement Project Manager will lead all purchasing and supply chain management activities within their assigned area of responsibility. This includes soliciting proposals, conducting bid evaluations, negotiating prices, and preparing complex purchase orders and agreements. The Project Manager will also be responsible for monitoring supplier performance and ensuring that all contractual obligations are met. A significant part of the role involves preparing an annual supplier performance master plan, which outlines objectives for material management, quality, reliability, and product support. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments, including program office, design engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure that procurement strategies align with organizational goals. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, as the Project Manager will need to identify issues both internally and at the supplier level, determine the source of these problems, and implement corrective actions. Additionally, the role involves leading negotiation teams to achieve cost reductions and maximize savings while ensuring that all requirements are specified in purchasing documents. The Senior Procurement Project Manager will also coordinate the administration of contractual documentation and conduct all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
