Abnormal Security is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to join our expanding legal team and to work on the forefront of cutting-edge legal and regulatory challenges in cybersecurity, AI, privacy, and SaaS. As our first Senior Product Counsel, you’ll play a pivotal role in assisting to build a scalable Product legal function and partnering closely with our stakeholders in engineering, product, security, and go-to-market (GTM) teams. You’ll assist in shaping and executing on the legal aspects of our product development lifecycle, working to ensure alignment with global regulations, contractual commitments, market expectations, and industry best practices. Responsibilities

• Support product development initiatives and GTM programs to deliver strategic value and pragmatic solutions to product designers, builders, and maintainers.
• Conduct product and feature compliance reviews in partnership with Security, Privacy, Governance Risk & Compliance teams.
• Assist in establishing scalable processes to integrate legal guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the Commercial Legal team on product, privacy, security, and regulatory-related contracting points.
• Serve as Product Legal lead for security and privacy audit activities such as SOC 2, ISO, HITRUST, PCI, FedRAMP.
• Partner with Privacy stakeholders on impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Support in-bound technology licensing and acquisition efforts by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements.
• Track and advise on evolving regulations impacting products.
• Create training programs for cross-functional teams on privacy and product compliance.
• Be open to increasing responsibilities as the company expands.

Requirements

• JD or US law degree with bar admission in good standing in at least one US state.
• 8+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally in both in-house and law firm roles.
• Strong understanding of B2B SaaS, AI, software licensing, intellectual property, and global privacy/data protection laws.
• Proven ability to navigate complex business and decision-making challenges.
• Comfortable learning and engaging with technical concepts and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrated success partnering across diverse business teams and functions in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
• Familiarity with working across time zones and cultures; start-up experience is a plus.
• Comfortable using tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, genAI tools, and Slack.

Nice-to-haves

• Privacy and security certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CISM, CCSK) are advantageous.
• A candidate located on the West coast is preferred.

Benefits

• Base salary range: $233,000—$260,000 USD.
• Certain roles are eligible for a bonus, restricted stock units (RSUs), and benefits.
