About the position

The Senior Product Data Analyst at BetterUp plays a crucial role in leveraging data to drive business decisions and enhance product offerings. This position involves collaborating with product teams to develop measurement strategies, create insightful visualizations, and ensure data accuracy. The analyst will conduct deep dives into data to uncover performance drivers and opportunities, while also educating business partners on analytics usage. This role is embedded within a product squad and reports to the Director of Product Analytics, contributing to the overall analytics function at BetterUp.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and productize measurement strategies, data, and visualizations to communicate BetterUp's value to customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering on instrumentation design for new features and create datasets for business users.
  • Own product-related Explores and dashboards in Looker, ensuring data accuracy and building new dimensions/measures as needed.
  • Identify internal KPIs with the Product team, build standardized reporting, and contribute to business reviews.
  • Conduct data deep dives to understand business performance drivers and identify new opportunities and risks, presenting findings to cross-functional partners and the Executive Team.
  • Educate business partners on the strategic use of analytics and help translate insights into actionable steps.
  • Define the analytics function at BetterUp.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building custom reporting, insights, and analytics products; experience with Customer Analytics Platforms preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Looker/Tableau, and Amplitude (Python / R a plus).
  • Experience with text/unstructured data, sentiment/theme analysis, and/or Generative AI and LLM-powered applications preferred.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex results into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly add value in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think like an owner and make effective prioritization decisions.

  • Experience with Generative AI and LLM-powered applications.
  • Familiarity with sentiment/theme analysis.
