About the position

The Senior Product Data Analyst at Western Governors University (WGU) plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing product and business data to drive strategic decision-making. This position involves creating insightful reports and presentations, collaborating with product teams to establish key performance indicators, and overseeing product analytics projects. The analyst will also mentor team members and contribute to the overall mission of expanding access to higher education through data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

  • Manage metrics and data to create reports and presentations about product and business data findings using visual representations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on key metrics and user data, crafting strategic product recommendations.
  • Perform analysis to assess data quality and trends related to user behavior and product usage.
  • Collaborate with product teams to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and build metrics for new products.
  • Develop measurement plans and interactive dashboards to generate business insights from product data.
  • Design and oversee A/B tests to measure the impact of new features and improvements.
  • Execute large strategic initiatives across product portfolios, not just individual projects.
  • Mentor and coach team members within the Product Organization on data-related inquiries and storytelling.
  • Monitor product health and performance throughout the learner journey.
  • Gather and analyze learner feedback through surveys or polls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • 6 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of product analytics experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Databricks, SQL, or other Lakehouse Platforms.
  • Experience with visualization tools like ThoughtSpot, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience with web and mobile analytics tools such as Pendo, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, or Amplitude.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries.
  • Strong problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in additional languages like Python or R.
  • Product Management Experience.
  • Product Analytics Certification or Analytics Degree.
