About the position

The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states. Waymo's Product Data Science team works cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Operations to help the company make the most informed decisions using data. Our team collaborates on high-impact projects across the company—from driving quality and operational efficiency to market analysis and rider satisfaction scores—we help to safely and efficiently scale the Waymo Driver. We are data-driven, curious, open-minded, and adapt quickly to new information. This hybrid role will report to our Product Data Science team. In this role, you'll partner with Operations, Product, and Engineering teams to scale and improve Waymo's fleet operations. You will perform advanced analytics and modeling to increase the availability of Waymo's vehicles, build and maintain state-of-the-art reporting infrastructure to enable continuous decision-making, and work closely with Engineering teams to define and build data infrastructure for fleet operations. Additionally, you will communicate and present on a regular basis to Waymo leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations, Product, and Engineering teams to scale and improve Waymo's fleet operations
  • Perform advanced analytics and modeling to increase availability of Waymo's vehicles
  • Build and maintain state of the art reporting infrastructure to enable continuous decision making
  • Work closely with Engineering teams to define and build Data infrastructure for Fleet operations
  • Communicate and present on a regular basis to Waymo leadership

Requirements

  • Advanced analytics skills
  • Ability to structure and solve ambiguous problems
  • Data visualization
  • Coding skills (SQL and basic Python)
  • Expertise and experience with experimentation
  • Experience with improving operations at scale
  • Great communication
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise performing analytics with Fleet Operations, Fleet Maintenance, or Reverse Logistics at scale
  • Experience building Optimization models
