About the position

The Senior Product Design Engineer plays a crucial role in leading large-scale projects within the engineering team at Regal Rexnord. This position involves suggesting product improvements, maintaining product knowledge, and collaborating with various departments to ensure effective application of engineering principles. The engineer will also be responsible for communicating with customers regarding new applications and designs, preparing reports, and overseeing the creation of accurate design drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor others in Design Engineering and other departments.
  • Prepare reports for customers to communicate verification and validation activities related to new designs/changes/deviations.
  • Directly work with customers on new applications and designs.
  • Prepare or oversee the creation of accurate drawings of new designs.
  • Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Make calculations on tolerance stack-up of multi-component systems and apply correct standards related to strength of materials, torque, fit, temperature, performance, etc.
  • Source and validate components or assemblies as required, working with test lab technicians.
  • Prepare bills of material for product and engineering changes.
  • Release engineering change notices.
  • Perform assigned tasks related to engineering and drafting.
  • Use 3D solids CAD software with finite element analysis tools for design and analysis of products.
  • Apply, recommend, and follow lean initiatives/practices.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and report questionable conditions to the department manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or general engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Willingness to work 'hands-on' to build/create new things and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, business periodicals, professional journals, safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals, and government regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, customers, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D modeling software (preferably Solidworks).
