About the position

The Senior Product Design Engineer at Trane Technologies is responsible for designing and managing the Water-Cooled Chiller product lines. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to identify and resolve engineering challenges, ensuring innovative solutions are developed to meet performance and reliability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Apply interdisciplinary engineering expertise to solve system design and product application problems.
  • Plan and direct the efforts of engineering and technician teams to meet performance, reliability, quality, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Support sales order attainment by providing custom design modifications.
  • Support field and factory problem resolution.
  • Conduct laboratory testing as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 8 years of mechanical design or HVAC/R work experience is required.
  • Associate's Degree in a technical discipline and at least 10 years of mechanical design or HVAC/R work experience is required.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering is a plus.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, HVAC/R fundamentals and project management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Windows PC literate and proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Design or application experience with HVAC products, thermodynamic computations, pressure vessel design, compressor, motor, controls or heat transfer technologies is a plus.
  • Data & Analytics, making data driven decisions and programming knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to apply heat transfer and fluid flow concepts for real world problem-solving.
  • Understanding of finance as applied to project justification and budgeting.
  • Skills in motivating and directing individuals and teams.
