About the position

The Senior Product Designer role at Metso focuses on the design and development of mechanical systems for bulk material handling equipment within the mining industry. This position is integral to the GBP BMH Product Engineering team, where the designer will lead innovative projects, enhance existing equipment, and collaborate with global teams to ensure high performance and safety standards. Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for bulk material handling equipment.
• Manage multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
• Work with the global GBP Engineering team to enhance and extend the life of existing equipment through upgrades, modifications, and repairs.
• Provide expert design and technical support during equipment breakdowns, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance.
• Collaborate with a diverse, international team of engineers and designers on global projects.
• Ensure all design documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with industry standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's/Technology degree in Mechanical Design or a related field.
• Experience in mechanical design, specifically in bulk material handling equipment within the mining industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor) and a deep understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in diagnosing and solving equipment breakdowns quickly and effectively.
• In-depth understanding of equipment like Apron Feeders, Belt Feeders, and Rotary Car Dumpers.
• Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to overcoming design challenges.
