About the position

Garmin is seeking a full-time Product Designer to join the Device Interaction team in Olathe, KS. The role focuses on enhancing user experience for Garmin Connect, a fitness and wellness application. The Product Designer will engage in all stages of feature development, from wireframing to final design tweaks, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to create user-friendly interaction solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work on UX/UI design tools such as Figma
  • Take ownership of key features in a product line
  • Perform user interviews and observational research
  • Interpret research data to create viable solutions
  • Define and design product interactions with stakeholders or partners
  • Mentor less experienced Product Designers
  • Demonstrate the full use of design standards and procedures in performance of essential functions
  • Apply Garmin's Mission Statement and Quality Policy
  • Work in cross-functional teams collaboratively and professionally
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities
  • Produce solid design solutions without assistance from others
  • Use effective communication skills when presenting design ideas
  • Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound design thinking

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or equivalent curriculum
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience or 9 years equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
  • Proven track record with leading design direction for multiple projects
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Possess technical knowledge that helps bridge gaps between engineering and design environments
  • Previous experience mentoring one or more UX designers
