About the position

As a Senior Product Designer at Datadog, you will play a pivotal role in simplifying complex, cross-product workflows through design thinking. The Platform Design Team is responsible for creating patterns and tools that are integrated into over 70 products at Datadog. Your primary focus will be to identify and pursue strategic opportunities that enhance user experiences across the platform. You will engage directly with customers to understand their needs and pain points, collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and fellow designers to streamline platform experiences. Additionally, you will provide guidance to other design teams, ensuring that touchpoints throughout the Datadog platform are enhanced and cohesive. In this role, you will act as an end-to-end product designer, transforming insights from domain analysis and user feedback into tangible solutions. You will be responsible for the entire design process, from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity prototypes, and will see your product through to production. Collaboration is key; you will work alongside product managers and engineers to ensure that the user experience you design aligns with the needs of both customers and the company. You will also maintain a cohesive design language with other designers and contribute to the overall UX vision at Datadog. Effective communication of your design work and the rationale behind your design decisions will be essential, as you will present your work to your product team and the broader company. Furthermore, you will develop expertise in your product area, learning from and collaborating with other designers on the team.

Responsibilities

• Act as an end-to-end product designer, turning insights from domain analysis and user feedback into tangible solutions.
• Create low-fidelity sketches and high-fidelity prototypes, overseeing the product through to production.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers throughout the design process to ensure the right products are built for customers and the company.
• Work with other designers to maintain a cohesive design language and contribute to the overall UX vision at Datadog.
• Communicate design work and the rationale for design decisions internally to the product team and the entire company.
• Develop expertise in the product area by learning from and collaborating with other designers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in digital product design.
• Proven track record of shipping end-to-end design work in SaaS applications, as demonstrated in your portfolio.
• Excellent visual and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate design work and decisions.
• Experience with advanced prototyping tools such as Principle, Framer, Sketch, Figma, and InVision.
• Understanding of systems thinking and component-based design patterns.
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, supporting and improving the work of colleagues.
