About the position

The Senior Product Designer role at UnitedHealth Group focuses on enhancing user experiences for financial products through human-centered design. This position is part of the Starship division, which aims to simplify and modernize the benefits experience for users. The designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that meet user and business needs, while also supporting the growth of a high-performing design team.

Responsibilities

• Craft, test, and iterate on designs until the most optimal, intuitive, and elegant solution is identified
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure high-quality solutions are designed and shipped
• Work on the design of the consumer app, enterprise dashboard, and internal tools
• Create innovative design solutions that address user and business needs for specific areas of products
• Collaborate with the research team to drive empathy and learn from users to inform feature enhancements

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in product design, with a proven track record of high-impact design work
• 2+ cases showing high visual acuity in consumer-focused product case studies
• Experience designing and documenting designs for communication and implementation purposes
• Experience working through complex workflows using whiteboards, flow charts, wireframes, or other visual diagrams
• Experience with grid systems, composition, typography, and color
• 1+ years of experience working on large, business-critical products
• 1+ years of experience in working within or for large organizations

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working in banking or a financial institution
• Understanding of healthcare and insurance
• Proficiency with prototyping tools such as Figma or Framer
