About the position

The Product Designer role at Apple focuses on creating user-friendly and engaging experiences for applications and tools that support the manufacturing of Apple products. The position requires a deep understanding of user needs and the ability to translate complex problems into elegant design solutions. The designer will work closely with product managers and developers to ensure that user experiences are not only functional but also delightful.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, design, and deliver user experiences and user flows, simplifying complex user actions into usable interfaces.
  • Collaborate with product managers to prioritize features and break them down into iterative user stories.
  • Work with software developers to understand technical limitations and iterate on solutions for viable MVP-style features.
  • Present and communicate design concepts, including lo-fi mockups, interaction designs, hi-fi user flows, and prototypes to various stakeholders.
  • Articulate design rationale and prioritize feedback to iterate rapidly during the design exploration process.
  • Influence and gain alignment from team members while applying critical thinking and product design strategy to all work.
  • Ship user experiences that are delightful and meet user needs.
  • Deeply understand and empathize with users' needs and pain points.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of UI/UX experience in a software product team, including prototyping, designing, and shipping full-stack software products.
  • Expertise in designing across various platforms including web, mobile, responsive, and AR/VR.
  • Proficiency in creating, owning, and evolving the information architecture (IA) of large complex applications.
  • Expertise in UI/UX wireframing and design tools such as Sketch and Figma.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated ability to take a user-centric approach in defining, testing, and iterating on UI/UX through user research, usability studies, and A/B testing.
  • Experience in building and maintaining design systems and frontend component systems at scale.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work cross-functionally with developers and other designers.
  • Interest in manufacturing processes, consumer product design, and mechanical engineering.
