As a Senior Product Designer at Garmin, you will play a pivotal role in shaping user experiences for new features and products. Your primary responsibilities will include researching, designing, and prototyping user experiences in a timely and organized manner. You will communicate your research and designs through various mediums such as mockups, storyboarding, visual presentations, and behavioral documentation. Your goal will be to produce creative, simple, and highly usable solutions that respond effectively to human behavior. You will document clear and organized solutions that are easily understandable by stakeholders, engineers, and those unfamiliar with the project. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work closely with design leadership, software engineers, graphic artists, product managers, and other stakeholders to determine the design direction for assigned projects. Additionally, you will assist with new user interface testing and conduct usability tests to gather feedback on new designs where applicable. Your role will also involve adapting designs as needed, as you can expect some ambiguity and change during projects. You will maintain and ensure user interface design and behavioral consistency across product types. There may be opportunities for you to contribute to advanced design research or concepting for new products or markets through research, prototyping, testing, and open internal collaboration. Staying current on user interface design trends and competitors' designs will be essential, as will keeping abreast of new prototyping, presentation, or computer graphics techniques and software. You will communicate the status of your work clearly and provide visibility to your supervisor. Additionally, you may serve as a mentor to less experienced designers (Product Designers 1 & 2).
