About the position

As a Senior Product Designer at Pearson, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience for our higher education and professional learning products. This position requires a strong background in UX and visual design, as you will be responsible for launching new features and enhancing existing ones. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including content creators, product managers, and engineers, to ensure that the user experience is not only effective but also aligns with our strategic vision. Your work will involve defining the North Star vision for our products, which means you will need to think critically about the user journey and the overall product ecosystem. In this role, you will define and create user experiences for specific areas of our products, ensuring that user needs are understood and advocated for throughout the product development process. You will also be responsible for establishing key metrics to track the success and business impact of your designs. Maintaining clear alignment within the team regarding goals and priorities will be essential, as will your ability to approach open-ended problems with clarity and vigor. Your responsibilities will include guiding user research and testing to ensure usability and consistency across our products. You will be expected to be data-driven, iteratively improving the user experience based on feedback and insights. Additionally, you will design for AI-driven teaching and learning experiences, which is a critical aspect of our product strategy. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about creating impactful user experiences that enhance learning.

Responsibilities

  • Define and create the user experience for specific areas of our products

Requirements

  • 7+ years product design experience with an online portfolio of relevant design work
  • Skilled in design at the detail and systems level
  • Confident communicator who can clearly articulate your process, approach, and rationale to others
  • Experience working in a collaborative team comprised of other designers, content strategists, product managers, and developers
  • Experience designing for AI-driven experiences including LLMs
  • Prior experience defining and leading user research efforts
  • Awareness of design trends across web and mobile devices
  • Experience working with design systems
  • Experience working in an Agile, lean UX, and mobile first environment
  • Understanding the relationship of visual, interaction, and content disciplines
  • Expert proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and/or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in design and/or HCI related field
