About the position

As a Senior Product Designer at TikTok, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our business services. Your primary responsibility will be to own every aspect of product design, from identifying core user challenges to delivering a well-tested and pixel-perfect user interface. You will begin by immersing yourself in understanding the problems you are solving and the goals of our users. This foundational knowledge will guide your design process, allowing you to create and test rough prototypes early on to build confidence in your solutions. Your work will involve designing high-fidelity UI and UX specifications that clearly communicate requirements to engineers, ensuring that the final product aligns with both user needs and business objectives. You will also contribute to high-level strategic decisions alongside the product team, leveraging your design thinking skills across various areas of the platform, including research, marketing, product education, and customer success. In addition to your design responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior and mid-level designers, sharing your expertise and fostering their growth within the team. Your experience in designing and shipping complex products will be invaluable as you navigate multiple scenarios and edge cases, always keeping the user experience at the forefront of your work. Responsibilities

  • Own every aspect of a product's design, from solving the core user challenge to shipping a well-tested and pixel-perfect UI.
  • Familiarize yourself with the core problem you're trying to solve and all the user goals before designing anything.
  • Create and test rough prototypes early in the design process to build confidence in a solution.
  • Design high-fidelity UI and UX specs to clearly communicate requirements to your team's engineers.
  • Help make high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product team.
  • Contribute your design thinking skills to other areas of the platform (Research, Marketing, product education, customer success, etc.).
  • Mentor junior or mid-level designers, sharing your knowledge and supporting their development.

Requirements

  • Experienced with designing and shipping an end-to-end product with complicated flows, multiple scenarios, and edge cases.
  • Proven ability to empathize with and build solutions for users.
  • Ability to provide design variations and rationalize your design choices.
  • Ability to organize and communicate your thoughts and motivations with different audiences.
  • A keen eye for visual UI details.
  • Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision.
  • Self-motivated and able to efficiently run with a project without close supervision.
  • Willing to adapt and contribute to the design system; work closely with engineers to build components that fit into a larger component library/style guide.
  • Love to discuss design in group settings; participate in design critiques and reviews.
  • Experienced or interested in data visualization.
