About the position

As a Senior Product Designer at Pomelo, you will create exceptional user experiences that align user needs with business goals. Your role involves designing intuitive and engaging product experiences for customers throughout their journey, from initial awareness to ongoing use of our money transfer services. You will leverage customer insights and data to inform your designs and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance Pomelo's design culture and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Think holistically about complex systems and empathize with users to create effective consumer experiences.
  • Create and validate designs through sketches, prototypes, and testing, determining information architecture and flow for product features.
  • Develop high-fidelity visuals and specifications for final solutions, ensuring quality implementation and user experience.
  • Collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment with product managers, engineers, and marketers to build impactful experiences.
  • Help build and maintain the design system and advocate for scalable design solutions.
  • Shape the design culture and processes within the company, using the right tools for maximum impact.
  • Champion design initiatives and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6+ years of professional experience as a product designer in an individual contributor role.
  • Outstanding portfolio showcasing expertise in user experience, interaction, and visual design for consumer products.
  • Experience designing user-facing fintech products.
  • Proven ability to take design projects from discovery through delivery of high-quality experiences.
  • Understanding of the end-to-end design process, adaptable to project and team context.
  • Experience driving research and using qualitative and quantitative data for design decisions.
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including product designers, managers, and engineers.
  • Ability to navigate challenges in a dynamic startup environment with a scrappy and adaptable mindset.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting ideas and driving understanding among stakeholders.
  • Systems thinking to create cohesiveness throughout the customer experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with money transfer, consumer credit, or consumer fintech products.
  • Experience working in an early-stage startup.
