About the position

The Senior Product Development Manager for Private Brand Fresh Food at 7-Eleven is responsible for leading the development of innovative products, platforms, and packaging solutions. This role combines technical expertise in product formulation with strong business acumen to drive growth in 7-Eleven's Private Brands. The manager will leverage consumer insights and market trends to prioritize product opportunities and execute successful launches that align with the company's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the Private Brand vision into a pipeline of new products and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the product development process, including ingredient sourcing, formulation optimization, and packaging solutions.
  • Use consumer insights, market data, and business metrics to identify opportunities and drive product innovation.
  • Work closely with Category Managers to align private brand innovation with overall category goals.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a team of up to two individuals in product development and strategic objectives.
  • Tackle challenges related to product formulation, ingredient stability, shelf-life, and production scalability.
  • Develop sustainable, cost-effective packaging solutions that align with consumer preferences and sustainability trends.
  • Create and analyze product performance metrics to inform future product development strategies.
  • Partner with user experience and consumer research teams to drive insights into customer segments and preferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field (required).
  • Minimum of 7+ years in product development for retail or CPG companies, focusing on product development and business strategy.
  • Expertise in food science, product formulation, ingredient functionality, and shelf-life stability.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL) to analyze product performance and market trends.
  • Experience with financial metrics (sales, GP%) and business modeling to align technical product development with overall business goals.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical information to senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or Master's Degree in a business-related field preferred.
