About the position

As a Senior Product Development Manager at 7-Eleven, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Private Brands. This position is designed for a dynamic individual who is passionate about product innovation and has a keen understanding of market trends and consumer insights. You will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive plan that leads the development of new products, platforms, and packaging tailored to our business unit. Your expertise will be crucial in leveraging consumer insights and market data to identify and prioritize opportunities that will drive growth for the 7-Eleven Private Brands business. In this role, you will translate the vision and strategy of Private Brands into a robust pipeline of innovation and continuous improvement initiatives. You will coach, mentor, and develop a small team, ensuring that they are aligned with the strategic needs of the business unit. Managing the product development process will be a key responsibility, which includes opportunity identification, consumer testing, establishing success criteria, packaging development, and post-launch performance verification. You will lead your team effectively, ensuring that objectives are met and that the product development process is seamless. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will work closely with Category Managers to integrate Private Brands into their plans, setting clear goals and objectives by category. Your ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly to senior management will be vital in gaining buy-in and support for the business plan and strategy. Additionally, you will provide strategic direction regarding the management of existing private brand assortments, identifying opportunities for expansion, promotion, and rationalization of items within your business unit. You will also be responsible for creating, analyzing, and presenting performance metrics that will inform business decisions about future product development strategies. Partnering with user experience and customer research teams will allow you to drive insights into customer segments and shopping behaviors, ensuring that our product offerings are aligned with customer needs and preferences.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the Private Brand vision and strategy into a pipeline of innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach, mentor and develop a team of up to two individuals supporting the strategic needs of the business unit.
  • Manage the product development process including opportunity identification, consumer testing, establishment of success criteria, packaging development and post-launch performance verification.
  • Work collaboratively with Category Managers to integrate Private Brands into their plans, setting goals and objectives by category.
  • Communicate complex ideas succinctly to senior management, gaining buy-in and support for the business plan and strategy.
  • Provide strategic direction regarding the management of existing private brands assortments, including opportunities for expansion, promotion and rationalization of items in their business unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelors/4 Yr Degree; MBA / Masters preferred.
  • 7 years + experience in new product development for retail or CPG companies.
  • Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools (SQL).
  • Experience using marketing metrics, consumer insights and data to drive business decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
  • Time-management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Comfortable executing product development initiatives, performing quantitative analysis and reaching sound conclusions.
