About the position

The Senior Product Manager at Truist is a pivotal role that balances business, technology, and design priorities to deliver exceptional product and service experiences. This position requires a strategic thinker who can work closely with the Product Owner to translate the overarching vision into actionable details that the Agile delivery team can prioritize as epics and features. The Senior Product Manager is expected to be a thought leader within their team, responsible for developing and maintaining a strategic delivery roadmap that aligns with business goals. This role demands the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels, generating innovative ideas for growth while also analyzing data and solving problems in collaboration with delivery teams. In this role, the Senior Product Manager will monitor and drive business performance across all aspects of demand, customer experience, and conversion. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in relevant technologies and a solid understanding of the Scaled Agile development framework. They should be adept at navigating between business stakeholders and technology teams to prioritize high-value items for delivery. This position is responsible for defining the vision and experience across all components of the relevant ecosystem within their area of responsibility. Essential duties include researching and analyzing target client segments to understand their financial needs, demonstrating thought leadership by championing the business vision, and analyzing market trends to define a differentiated product vision. The Senior Product Manager will collaborate with various partners to align on strategy, develop a delivery roadmap, and write epics and features to support the defined roadmap. They will also set the Planning Increment (PI) vision, develop feature backlog roadmaps, and ensure compliance with all necessary processes and procedures. Additionally, this role involves mentoring other Product Managers on best practices in product management.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and learn about a target client segment to garner a deep understanding of their financial needs.
  • Be an expert regarding competition, industry trends, and changing customer needs, demonstrating thought leadership across the company.
  • Analyze the market and competitive environment to define a differentiated product vision that delivers unique value.
  • Collaborate with partners to align on strategy and develop a delivery roadmap that supports business goals.
  • Engage key stakeholders in the planning and execution of projects.
  • Write epics and features in support of the defined roadmap, prioritizing across teams.
  • Set Planning Increment (PI) vision, priority, and definition, partnering with product owners on feature prioritization and delivery timelines.
  • Develop feature backlog roadmap, leading high-level deliverables including discovery, prototypes/wireframes, usability studies, partner demos, and web analytics planning.
  • Obtain partner alignment and approvals including legal, compliance, security, and fraud as needed.
  • Partner to set pricing and ensure billing follows all associated processes and procedures.
  • Create and track product metrics to inform strategy and roadmap, sharing analysis with partners.
  • Work with Readiness to create client and teammate facing content.
  • Ensure all Product Management Lifecycle (PML) processes and procedures are followed, supporting security, risk, audit, and more, and ensure action items and deadlines are met.
  • Attend Agile ceremonies as applicable.
  • Mentor other Product Managers on product management practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, design, or technology field; or related field or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Ten or more years of banking, financial services, or other relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of product, analysis, technology, and/or design experience.
  • Five or more years of leading cross-functional teams.
  • Previous experience working as a Product Manager.
  • Equal enthusiasm for high-level strategic planning and tactical daily execution.
  • Experience defining/driving vision of experience programs and/or partnership-based programs.
  • Experience defining and delivering large-scale online initiatives.
  • Proven ability to use data analytics, research, and testing methodologies to drive business decisions, diagnose problems, and recommend action plans to resolve issues.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Comfortable managing concurrent projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, leading work autonomously, and making independent decisions.
  • Excellent skills in presentation, facilitation, communication, and negotiation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, design, or technology field; banking or financial management education.
  • Experience working with distributed teams (onshore/offshore).
  • Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (or equivalent).
