About the position

As a Senior Product Manager - AI Safety at Microsoft, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI products, particularly those that power Microsoft Copilot. This position involves balancing product needs with research priorities to ensure high-quality, factual, and safe outputs from language models. You will work closely with AI researchers and engineers to prioritize new features, execute project plans, and contribute to the development of innovative consumer experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Identifying and prioritizing language model issues related to safety, and working with researchers to find a path to resolution.
• Translating legal guidance into product policy to define model behavior.
• Providing and gathering qualitative insights on model safety in production.
• Documenting safety mitigations and processes for compliance with regulation and governance.
• Working closely with researchers and engineers to define and manage engineering and research projects.
• Deploying and tracking AB model experiments in production.
• Embodying the company's culture and values.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/program management or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary projects, defining requirements, developing project plans and working with multi-disciplinary teams to execute them.
• Experience in building ML-powered products.
• 2+ years of experience building products within security, compliance, and/or trust & safety related fields.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience in product/program management or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience shipping consumer-facing products, including bringing products to market, collecting user feedback, defining success metrics, and iteratively improving products.
• Technical depth in software development, data science, and machine learning, with the ability to build zero-to-one prototypes and reason over large amounts of data.
• Experience using and applying Large Language Models.
