About the position

The D. E. Shaw group is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join its Financial Operations Technology team in New York. This role is pivotal in assisting with the development and implementation of systems and processes that streamline finance and operations functions, with a primary focus on Fund Accounting. The successful candidate will be part of an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging working environment, collaborating closely with business users, software developers, and quality engineers to conceptualize and develop solutions that enhance accounting and investor reporting processes as well as financial reporting systems. In this position, you will be responsible for understanding business needs, specifying technical requirements, prioritizing product roadmaps, and supporting existing applications. Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business users, software developers, and quality engineers to develop solutions that improve accounting and investor reporting processes.
  • Understand business needs and specify technical requirements for product development.
  • Prioritize product roadmaps and support existing applications.
  • Collaborate with global leaders in information technology and Finance and Operations teams to align solutions with strategic goals.
  • Manage projects to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • At least seven years of relevant work experience, preferably in financial operations or technology.
  • Experience with fund accounting is a significant plus.
  • Strong initiative and attention to detail, with the ability to manage projects to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate the needs of non-technical systems users into technical requirements.
  • High level of discretion with confidential information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and systems thinking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a financial technology environment.
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in fund accounting.
